Manipulations et mobilisations articulaires

Manipulation and joint mobilization

Manipulation, commonly known as chiropractic adjustments "are specialized techniques that can restore an entire joint mobility and range of motion. The adjustments reduce pain and muscle tension associated with joint restrictions. Some methods can be made from the hands or an instrument or a specialized table.

The ArthrosStim is a powerful tool that can be used to treat many different conditions and to reduce muscle tension. In the elderly or in individuals with a loss in bone density, it increases the precision of the adjustments and reduces the force applied at the bony structures.

Decompression table
The Centre de Santé Chiropratique St-Joseph has a decompression table. This table is used to reduce the pressure on the intervertebral discs and spinal nerves. This greatly helps to restore proper function and good movement in the vertebrae. Designed to treat herniated discs, it can be used on most patients to restore adequate function of the spine.

Muscle Therapy

We believe that the health of the body combines the smooth functioning of the spine, nervous system and muscular system. That's why we put a major emphasis on muscular therapy, which has the effect of increasing the efficiency of our care.

Active release technique (
The goal of this treatment is to manually break the adhesions and restrictions in muscles, tendons or ligaments. The patient makes a specific movement while the chiropractor makes contact on the abnormal tissue and generates a pressure to the injured area.

Kinesio Taping (
This method allows the bandage to assist the muscle and give support or to prevent excessive contractions. This technique is very effective in the acute phases of rehabilitation. It is used for muscle, lymphatic, ligament, and functional problems.

Graston Technique (
Graston Technique® is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.

This is a form of treatment by electric current that helps to reduce pain and improve soft tissue healing. Electrodes are placed on the skin at the site of injury and produce a number of small electrical impulses that enter the tissues where the injury is located. This therapeutic approach stimulates the body to produce endorphins that help reduce pain.

The first visit begins with a case history and physical examination including a complete analysis of your posture and muscle testing. We also include neurological and orthopaedic test to be able to make an accurate diagnosis of your condition. Discussion time is then expected to explain what the nature of your problem is and how chiropractic can help.

Exercises and anticipatory guidance

An exercise program specific to your condition is usually given during the first visits. The exercises are designed to encourage active participation in your chiropractic care. They can accelerate the healing process and prevent recurrence when they are performed as recommended.

Clinical Management

At the Centre de Santé Chiropratique St-Joseph, we offer a personal approach for each patient. We conduct regular evaluations to better guide treatment and make it more effective. When the condition is not progressing as planned within a reasonable time, patients are referred to another health care professional. The majority of insurance companies cover in part the cost of the treatment. For injured workers and people injured in a road accident, our treatments are covered in part by the CSST and the SAAQ. Only for these cases, a medical referral is required.
